Yes! I really do mean it when I say cookware can change your life for the better or worse. Most people don’t pay attention to this aspect of their life, but after reading this you’ll understand why this is vital to your health.
After having my children and dealing with lots of health issues I took every part of my life more seriously. I changed the way we ate and started learning more about toxic exposure. I didn’t realize there were so many things I did and used on a daily basis that exposed my family and I to so many toxins.
I worked on removing as many toxins as I could like lotions, shampoos, body wash, hand soap, different foods, but I never realized my cookware was one of the major sources.
Below are the major reasons I decided to ditch my toxic cookware and purchase non-toxic cookware:
- Increases your risk of cancer
- Endocrine disrupter
- Exposure to metals
According to Dr. Mercola, there are heavy metals that leach into your food every time you cook. Not to mention the amount increases the hotter the temperatures.
Unfortunately, many people are uneducated on the toxins that you are exposed to in specific cookware. One of the main toxins are perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which is found mainly in non-stick cookware. In another article by Dr. Mercola, there were animals that were exposed to this toxin and the results consisted of, serious changes in organs, death of several rat pups, and changes in the pituitary in female rats.
Wellness Mama also does an amazing job explaining the break down of cookware that is dangerous. She also explains which ones are safer. Honestly, after I listened to her podcast with the cookware expert from Xtrema Cookware I was left in complete shock. I was also upset that I went so long being completely oblivious of this very important aspect of my life.
After I learned all this information I was determined to get rid of all my cookware and replace it with safer ones. But, of course this was a very difficult decision because I didn’t have the money to invest in super expensive cookware. I decided to save up and use safe alternative ways to cook in the mean time. I decided to get a lot more creative, and do what I could in the mean time. I still had to use my current cookware, but I basically used it as the last resort.
Below are better non-toxic cookware:
- Stainless steal
- Cast Iron
- Ceramic cookware
I finally saved up and was able to purchase my first Xtrema cookware. It took some time getting used to it, but I have been able to learn and adjust to this new cookware. I’m so used to cooking with it at this time that I don’t even hesitate when I am cooking different meals.
What I love about this cookware:
- it’s versatile and you can use it on the stove and in the oven
- it’s heavy duty
- it heats up very fast
- it doesn’t scratch
I would highly recommend this cookware if you are looking to improve the health of your family and lessen toxic exposure.
